Gender and Feminist Research Group Committee Vacancies, 2015

The Gender and Feminist Geographies Research Group of the RGS-IBG (GFGRG) has three positions on its committee that we are seeking to fill:

Secretary: This role involves working with the Chair of the Group to organise committee meetings (normally three per year) and the Annual General Meeting which is held at the RGS-IBG conference. They will also take and distribute the minutes of these meetings. Committee meetings can be attended either in person in London or via Skype. The secretary also organises the annual GFGRG meal (held after our AGM) and will be expected to play a full part in other committee activities e.g. helping to organise RGS-IBG medal nominations and GFGRG events/activities. In accordance with RGS-IBG rules the secretary must be a member of RGS-IBG. This post is for three years.

Press Officer: This role involves organising communications on behalf of GFGRG on social media (we have active Twitter and Facebook accounts) and via email to promote GFGRG activities and initiatives. They will also work alongside our web coordinator to provide updates to the GFGRG webpage. The press officer will also be expected to attend committee meetings (either in person in London or via Skype) and help with GFGRG initiatives and events. This post is for three years. Preference may be given to RGS-IBG members.

Postgraduate Member: This role is held by a postgraduate and ensures that there is at least one postgraduate member on GFGRG committee. The postgraduate member plays an important role in presenting the views of postgraduates to committee, feeding into postgraduate initiatives that are instigated by the RGS-IBG and organising the GFGRG sponsored postgraduate session(s) at the RGS-IBG annual meeting. The postgraduate member will also be expected to attend committee meetings (either in person in London or via Skype) and help with GFGRG initiatives and events. This post is for one year with an option to serve up to three years on committee if they put themselves forward for re-election. Preference may be given to RGS-IBG members.

Could all applicants please email Nichola Wood (n.x.wood@leeds.ac.uk) a statement of no more than 250 words explaining which post they want to apply for, why they would like to take on this position and what experience they would bring to the post by 5pm (GMT) on Wednesday 2nd September 2015. Could applicants please also let me know if they are a member of RGS-IBG. These posts will then be decided at the GFGRG AGM on 3rd September 2015 at the RGS-IBG annual conference in Exeter (you don’t need to attend the AGM though to be elected onto committee).
